Directors Bio - North Shore HarmonizersWho Are We?
We are a women's chorus dedicated to the art of singing four-part harmony in barbershop and other a cappella styles. We have been in existence since 1952 and our membership includes women from all walks of life throughout the Chicagoland area.

What is Barbershop Harmony?
Barbershop harmony is an original American musical form. It is a unique blend of four voices - tenor, lead, baritone and bass - singing unaccompanied. At first barbershop music was limited to male voices. Today there are many women's quartets and choruses.

Who Can Join?
We invite women of all ages who love music and like to sing to join us. Some previous experience with choral singing is preferred, however, if you have a desire to learn to sing and perform barbershop music and a willingness to share with us the fun and friendship that come from harmonizing you are always welcome.

Where Do We Sing?
In addition to singing for the sheer joy of it, we often perform publicly. Some of our community activities include:

  • Our own Show
  • Performances for senior citizen and other community groups throughout the year
  • Holiday programs and caroling during the Christmas season
  • Community farmers markets during the summer
