Summer is here.  I hope you are enjoying the weather and watering your flowers.

It is with sadness that I tell you that our Ijya Tulloss passed away last Thursday.  If there are services  I will let you know.

Ijya was a brilliant educator and her life was filled with science, students , music, her writings and most importantly her family.  The past two years were  difficult for her with the loss of her son  and her own medical conditions. She loved music and the chorus filled an important part in her life.  We will miss her and her beautiful smile.

Terry’s committee met Saturday and talked about both our current situation and the future of the chorus.  Some very creative and encouraging ideas were put on the table.  Getting back together is our first priority.  We’re waiting to hear back from St. Johns with final approval and any specific requirements.  Hopefully we will know something more by rehearsal on Thursday.  As it stands now we are planning  to be back in person on July 1st.  We plan to continue to use our Zoom connections for those who are on vacation or out of town and to explore recording the rehearsals for  use on our website. We’ll take our usual two weeks off the end of August and then come back in September with a push for new members .

Long range goals include our much anticipated 70th show in the fall of 2022. This will give us time to add choreography to existing songs, learn a variety of new songs to fill out our show and just remember how to sing in person.  This also gives society time to get back to normal after Covid and will allow for the largest audience.  So much depends on the progress of the virus and variants and the complete reopening of society but these are our goals. My personal goal is to put on our most polished and entertaining show of my, by then,  34 years with the chorus.  Then I will retire knowing that we have all done our best.

In addition, the search for a new director  will now start in earnest.  An exciting time for the chorus.

This Thursday we will continue the work we started last Thursday and spend time on the difficult measures in each of our songs.  Repetition is the name of the game.

See you Thursday.
